Under the direct supervision of the OES Principal and/or designate; Lac Seul First Nation Education Authority requires a Native Language teacher for the Obishikokaang Elementary School.  The Native Language teacher will implement student curriculum in accordance with Ministry of Education curriculum and will teach traditional communication skills that will teach students to read and write Native Language.  The Native Language teacher is responsible for ensuring that each child has an opportunity to reach his/her maximum potential.



The Native Language teacher will increase students’ awareness of the importance of language in maintaining First Nation culture
Instruct students in the reading and writing of their native language
Promote the use of the native language at home and in classroom
Encourage students to integrate their native language studies into other areas of study
Provide evaluations for the program and the students’ progress and proficiency
Encourage students to reach their highest level of individual development by taking into account individual needs, interests, and abilities
Be sensitive toward, and make a sincere attempt to promote and improve understanding of Native culture and values through the use of traditional language
Prepare curriculum year plan and maintain daily plans with records of assessment



Ontario Teachers Certification is an asset for qualified teacher and must be in good standing
Familiar with Ontario provincial curriculum
Sensitive to aboriginal culture and issues
